SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector is to insure that production, sub-contractors and various department personnel are in compliance with the QA Program.  The QA Inspector shall have the experience and qualifications as to insure successful application and results from the program when applied to the NAVSEA or commercial marine construction, fabrication and repair fields.  It is the duty of the QA Inspector to insure that all required documentation is received from all applicable Marisco departments and sub-contractors; and to review these documents for content and forward the results to the QA Department. The QA Inspector will also make periodic audits of the personnel involved with the QA Program and make recommendations to the Quality Assurance Manager for corrective actions that maybe required. The employer has the right to revise this job description at any time.  The employer also reserves the right to restructure the company organization.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The QA Inspector will assist in the training of personnel in other Marisco LTD. departments.

Assist in the implementation and maintenance of all QA Programs.

Assist in the process and help maintain Inspection System Document Records and QA history files.

Help in the control of all process control procedures, records and submittals.

The QA Inspector will act as Point of contact with the Government QA representative or other Government Officials at the time of required inspections.

Responsible for measuring and testing equipment process.

Assist in the audit of sub-contractors

Coordinate with NDT sub-contractors.

Assist in the review of the necessary qualifications of the various tradesmen performing the work.

Be able to read detailed drawings and blue prints. 

Understanding of weld symbols and design. 

 

BASIC SKILLS REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent required, College education preferred but not required.  Individuals should possess good communication skills to deal with clients and Government Officials on a day-to-day basis.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:

A minimum of 35 words per minute is essential to the job.  Individuals must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. 

 

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

QA Inspector must have at least 2-5 years QA experience, preferably in the maritime industry.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use of hands to handle or feel objects, use of hand and power tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  They must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and outdoors.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The noise level in the work environment outside is usually moderate to high. On occasion, the individual may be exposed to great heights and confined spaces.
