JOB TITLE: PIPEFITTER II

SUMMARY:

This job level is considered a skilled position.  An individual is expected to be familiar in the operation of all-standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the Pipefitting field.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Able to read basic blueprint, sketches, and symbols.  Must have knowledge of gas freeing and ventilation procedures.  Able to complete tests for flush and hydro systems.  Must good math skills.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) required with two years technical graduate in Pipefitting Technology or in related area or three years continuous work experience in related field.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works around high & low-pressure piping-systems.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to cold, wet, hot and humid conditions.

  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate and may occasionally be loud.

SPECIFIC SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED & DEVELOPED TO EXCEL TO PIPEFITTER LEVEL I:

  1. Must have strong mathematical skills to perform the duties of a Pipefitter I.

  2. Able to cut, weld, and braze.

  3. Must be able to hold close tolerances measuring tools either Metric or English System of Measurements.

  4. Able to fabricate simple jigs and fixtures for production.

  5. It is expected that this job level have certification in the following areas:

  6. Certified Silver Brazing

  7. Flush & Hydro Test Systems

  8. Able to build-up and repair valves.

  9. Able to weld similar and dissimilar metals.

  10. Must be able to perform brazing and arc welding.

  11. Must be able to fabricate piping systems.

  12. Must be able to operate surface machines.

  13. Able to perform material handling and processes.

  14. Expected to have good productivity and very few defects (if any). Also, should know and understand all safety rules (as well as in the areas of gas freeing and ventilation).
