Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk

 SUMMARY:

Accounting clerks play a vital role at Marisco, Ltd. Clerks are to maintain financial records and assist with the general operations of the finance department.  Individuals are required to be self-motivated, detail orientated and well organized.  The individual is expected to have knowledge in the basic operation of all accounting systems and procedures, including the use of computers and office equipment to accomplish tasks.  Marisco believes in a team-effort environment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Updating and maintaining records of expenditures

  • Processing daily mail

  • Matching vendor invoices to PO’s and receivers and entering in AP

  • Ensuring that all payments are made in accordance with company policy

  • Ensuring that weekly payments are sent on time, take checks to the post office

  • Maintain petty cash box and replenish funds as needed

  • Matching check remittance to invoices and filing weekly

  • Process gas card and credit card statements - match to receipts and make payments

  • Resolving vendor inquiries and disputes on behalf of the company in a timely manner

  • Preparing and mailing invoices to customers

  • Do banking on a as required basis

  • Posting payments to customer accounts

  • Organizing and filing deposit receipts as invoices are paid

  • Following up on delinquent accounts and customer payment profiles

  • Reconciling cash receipts and deposit

  • Process payroll, AP, AR and do filing for a separate Company utilizing Quickbooks

  • All other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education & Certifications Required:

  • AA Degree in Accounting or equivalent.

  • Must have knowledge of basic Accounting principles and concept

  • Individual shall have at least two years of relevant work experience.

 

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Clerical skills 

  • Attention to detail

  • Client service skills

  • Communication skills 

  • Must be proficient with 10 Key, Quickbooks, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Project) and office equipment.

 

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

He/she must be able to move about the office; utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person, via email, or by telephone. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms and must be able to lift at least 20 lbs.
