JOB PURPOSE:

This person provides basic security and safety for the job yard, offices, dry dock, and surrounding area.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must promote positive public relations.

  • Patrol yard, dry dock, offices, and surrounding area day, night, holidays, and weekends to ensure safety and security.

  • All gates to all company premises are required to be locked between 4:30 pm – 6:45 am weekdays and all day on weekends and holidays.

  • Sign in/out any persons entering the premises during non-business hours.

  • Log in/out any vehicle or persons on the property (at all times). Record license plate number, vehicle type, make, model and color.Record company name or persons entering and leaving the premises.

  • Operate cell phone to communicate with the Police Department and other security persons.

  • Call the Police Department to make a report for any theft, damage to property, partying on company property, or suspicious activity.

  • Create reports of any incidents regarding theft, damage to property, partying on company property, or suspicious activity.

  • Drive golf cart or vehicle and patrol on foot.

  • Perform other related duties as needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education & Certifications Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or General Education Development (GED).

  • Valid drivers licensed and transportation (our location is in an isolated area that does not have frequent, scheduled, public transportation accessibility).

 

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Clerical skills – clerical skills are key in this role, since purchasing clerks prepare orders and reports and ensure that information is correctly entered in the company’s system

  • Mathematics – purchasing clerks should possess good mathematical skills to ensure that their calculations are correct when determining costs and completing purchase orders

  • Relationship management – because they support vendor relations and contracts, purchasing clerks should have strong relationship development and management skills

  • Client service skills – client service skills are also important in this role, since the purchasing clerk needs to work with multiple departments to complete orders and maintain records

  • Communication skills – purchasing clerks are effective verbal and written communicators, able to speak with and write to vendors, shipping companies, and internal personnel

  • Must be proficient with 10 Key, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Project) and office equipment.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 lbs.
